When you’re following origami instructions, always look at the next step, so you have an idea of what you’re trying to achieve. At times you might work out how to make your paper match the next step without really knowing how. At that point, unfold the step and try to work out how the preceding drawing tried to get you there. Read the accompanying text as well; you may have missed an instruction in the text that isn’t obvious from the drawing, such as which of several overlapping layers you may need to fold.
